Jory Miller Abrams

Jory was active in professional societies including Board of Directors, American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Oregon (2004-2006); Women in Transportation (WTS) (2000-2006); Project Management Trainer, American Public Works Association (APWA) (1998-2004); President of Oregon American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) (1988-1989); President of the Portland State University (PSU) Alumni Association; and Board member PSU Dean's Advisory Committee. In 1993, the Girl Scouts of America's named her their Woman of Distinction in Engineering, and 3 years later she received recognition as PSU's Outstanding Alumna. She has also published numerous papers, articles, and talks on roller-compacted concrete.

Since Jory retired in 2006, she and her husband have sold their West Hills home and remodeled and moved back into their first home after renting it for 16 years. They recently took a 90-mile canoe trip down the Missouri Breaks in central Montana; bed and breakfasted their way across Canada starting in Waterton Park; and took trips to Vermont, New Mexico, Arizona, Victoria B.C., Spokane, and Cancun. They also joined a Miata club and attend many road rallies, and a Wooden Canoe Heritage Association and are restoring a canoe. They spent February and March 2009 playing golf in the California desert.
